What
is the Birkman Method®?
The Birkman Method® offers a questionnaire whose nonjudgmental,
customizable results create a productivity methodology with the
individual's data on what an individual's usual, positive operating
mode might look like and what they might need to sustain this mode.
It also offers suggestions what might be needed, short term and long
term, if these needs are not met.
The
questionnaire results also offer information to explore potential
career goals--positive environments, duties and roles for
sustainable performance. When the results are compiled for a team,
they might focus on similarities and differences between individuals
and how these-properly managed-can make for more effective teams and
organizations. For
more information, please visit www.birkman.com.

"The
book Co-Active Coaching characterizes coaching as a
designed
alliance in which power is granted to the relationship, not to the
coach. In coaching, "clients do not buy a packaged program.
They are involved in creating a powerful relationship that fits
their working and learning styles... Clients learn that they are in
control of the relationship and ultimately of the changes they make
in their lives."
Fortune
(2/19/01),
in a study of 100 Executives from Fortune 1000
companies, reports that executives who received coaching
experienced:
77% - better relationships
with direct reports
71% - better relationships with their boss
61% - marked increase in job satisfaction
and commitment to the organization.
Why
would I want a coach?
“Recent

effective means for achieving sustainable growth, change and
development in the individual, group and organization.”

How
do I select a coach?
1.
Visit coaching websites like the ones below, ask for referrals,
attend a free workshop presented by coaches.
2.
Interview at least three coaches to determine who might best meet
your current needs. Most coaches offer a complimentary
interview conversation.
3.
Ask questions about their style, their experience, how coaching
might work with them, who is their perfect client, what the coaching
relationship means to them, how much they charge, how to get into a
contract and how to get out of a contract.
4.
Get a sense if the coach has the expertise and personality that
works best for you! The coach will be doing the same and
may refer you to someone else to ensure you get what you want.
5.
Set your first appointment and enjoy the process!
